Use cases

Aston Martin

After its separation from Ford, Aston Martin lost the bargaining power of its previous multinational owner.  This meant a drop in quality as it had to renegotiate terms with suppliers without the advantages of economies of scale. It started by pulling data from disparate sources, standardising the data, then analysing so manufacturing and quality issues could be identified and addressed. This led to a substantial reduction in the Warranty bill as quality improved. It also meant that quality issues with parts could be pin pointed and Aston Martin was able claim against suppliers.

Stonegate Pub Group

The Stonegate pub group wanted to address the problem of rising costs and dwindling markets as customers choosing to stay at home instead of visiting their local ‘Slug and Lettuce’ or any number of local pubs.

They decided to do this by building customer loyalty and rewarding customers on the frequency and spend during their visits to the pubs. This meant a standardisation of data, a rationalisation customers facing of web offering (Web sites and apps) and improved adaptability to meet quickly changing fashions, plus the ability store data against customers so that it could be segmented and analysed as needed.

Nissan

Nissan were one of the first major automotive manufacturers to release a mass-produced electric vehicle. Along with this come the telemetry data. This will tell the vehicle status at any point in a journey. Useful information if the customer owns a fleet of vehicles allowing them the ability to monitor and ascertain vehicle usage and state. A service was envisaged, developed and implemented that would pull data off the vehicle, standardise it and then store it ready for the customer to securely access it when they needed.

JLR

JLR (Jaguar LandRover) identified the management of key assets (Component tools, tools that make parts) as essential to the efficient manufacturing of their cars. Investigation of the tools management showed that identification of each tool, an audit of where each one was, the number of parts each had made, its total capabilities and which model the parts are used  as well as the materials they use. So management of the tools not only involved tracking the tool data, but also an understanding of the data dependencies. This was a major task but would save the company at the time an estimate £6.7 million per annum.
